Science Congress Day Activities Saturday--April 28, 2012 Buffalo State College Science Building
8:00 - 9:00 A.M. STUDENT REGISTRATION Buffalo State Science Building NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE DIVISION, AND SENIOR DIVISIONS in the main foyer.
8:30 - 9:30 A.M. SAFETY INSPECTIONS Inspections of ALL projects and lecture demonstrations take place at this time. All students must complete the Final Safety Checklist and have it at their project or lecture station. Students MUST remain with their project or lecture demonstration until it is inspected by the safety committee. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN PROJECT LOCATIONS. WATER BOTTLES ARE ALLOWED.
8:00 - 1:30 P.M. Breakfast and Lunch items available from Mike's Subs
THERE IS NO FOOD SERVICE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR!
8:30 - 1:00 P.M. PUBLIC VIEWING TIME
Please enjoy the student projects while students set them up. When judging begins, all teachers, parents, relatives and general public will be asked to leave while the judges speak with each student and listen to their presentations. Parents, teachers and the general public are invited to listen to the LECTURES, special presentations, and planetarium shows while the judging is going on.
9:30 A.M. JUDGING All students must be with their projects until dismissed by the judges.
When judging starts for Lecture Demonstrations no one will be allowed in or out of the room until a lecturer finishes his/her presentation and the next lecturer is setting up. Lecture Demonstrators must remain in the room until all the lecturers have finished their presentations. The PUBLIC is asked not to interfere while students are being judged. After the judges have finished, the general public may ask questions of the lecturers. 10:00 - 1:30 P.M. FREE PLANETARIUM SHOWS downstairs in Room 115 - Planetarium 12:15 - 1:15 P.M. SCIENCE ACTIVITIES FAIR (Bulger Communication Center)
1:30 - 2:30 P.M. AWARDS CEREMONY (Bulger Communication Center) Check the foyer for directions or ask a student assistant. (As a courtesy to all awardees, we ask that the public remain for all of the awards.)
Conclusion of the 70th Annual Western New York Science Congress
The WNY Science Congress may take photos and/or video of the Projects and Lecture Demonstrations. This serves to document Congress history and keep a visual record of the winners. The Release Wavier on the entry form gives the Western New York Congress, Inc. permission to photograph the student participant and/or project/lecture via film, digital cameras and video tape and to use these pictures in advertisements and future notices. Parents must send a letter indicating refusal of this permission. If no letter is received by the day before the Congress, April 26, 2012 it is understood that the Western New York Science Congress, Inc. is given permission to photograph, video tape, digitally or electronically record, and display information on their child's projects and/or image.
