Contest: To design the cover for the 70th Annual Western New York Science Congress Program book! Eligibility: Students in Grades 5 through 12 Prize: $25.00 for the winning cover. Entry Deadline: Please post mark your entries on or before March 20, 2012. The Design: ALL entries must be black and white drawings drawn in BLACK/BLUE INK. NO PENCIL. You may use pencil to sketch and then cover the pencil with ink. The use of computers and graphic programs to draw "ORIGINAL" drawings is welcome. The drawing will be printed in black and white so please do not use colors. Be creative - the more detailed and intricate the design dealing with some aspect of science the better. Make a practice copy when finished to see what the design will look like reproduced. Paper: Use a white sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper for the cover design.
Cover Requirements: 1. Margins. You do not have to draw a margin line on your design, but your drawing must stay within the 1/2" margin. 2. You must allow space for one 3" diameter circle somewhere on the front cover for the Congress emblem. You may incorporate the circle in your design! 3. Your design MUST include space for the following information below or you may incorporate all of these elements in your design:

Make sure the lettering is dark, sharp, and clearly readable.
Testing: Please test your drawing on a copy machine to see how it will copy in black and white. Your original copy will be used to create the master cover.
Copyrights: You MAY NOT use copyrighted characters or comics without the expressed written permission from the publisher and/or artist. If you use a copyrighted design, proof of permission must be submitted with your entry. We will not knowingly use copyrighted material.
Judging: The judging committee will select the final cover design. All entries become the legal property of the Western New York Science Congress, Inc. with all rights reserved there too.
Entry Form: Use a separate entry form for each design submitted. DO NOT STAPLE designs and entry forms together. Use a paper clip. DO NOT FOLD your design. Mail entries to the address on the entry form.
Winner Notification: Winners will be notified by mail and/or phone. Winners will receive their prize, with a program book, at the Awards Ceremony.
